Appalachian crafts featured at BV Merchants’s Fair

The United Methodist Church of Babylon, 21 James St., Babylon will be participating in the Babylon Village Merchants’ Fair, October 19. It will host the Red Bird Mission’s Appalachian Craft Fair from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. All proceeds go to the Red Bird Mission in Kentucky.

Handicrafts made within 75 miles of the mission will be available. Baskets made of oak splits, honeysuckle vines and creek willow will be available for sale along with braided rugs, mountain dulcimery, a variety of corn-shuck dolls and corn-shuck flowers. Also, beeswax candles, well-made toys of wood and cloth, small figurines handcrafted from Kentucky coal, woven place mats, handpainted gourds, Christmas ornaments and nativity sets will be available.
