Police seek public's help in apprehending credit card thief

Crime Stoppers and the Suffolk County Police First Squad Detectives are asking for the public's help to identify and locate the woman responsible for stealing and using another woman's credit cards.

On Feb. 9, 2008 at 11:55 a.m., the victim had just

finished shopping at the Stop and Shop on Commack Rd, in Deer Park and was loading her groceries into her car, when she was approached by an unknown woman who distracted

her while another

woman stole her purse from the front seat of her car.

Approximately thirty five minutes later the victim's master card was used at the Stop and Shop on Sunrise Highway in Bayshore. The thief (pictured right as she left the store) charged over $200 on the card.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential and the caller will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $5000.00 for information that leads to an arrest.
