NBHS in Cablevision finals; airing Saturday Continuing their winning streak in round three, the academic team from North Babylon High School is moving on to the Suffolk County Finals of Cablevision's The Challenge, an academic quiz show designed to test students' knowledge in a Jeopardy-style format. The match-up between North Babylon High School and Sachem North High School will air exclusively on News 12 Long Island at 6:30 pm and 9:30 pm on Saturday, May 31, with an encore airing the very next night, Sunday, June 1, at 6:30 pm and 9:30 pm. The Challenge, hosted by News 12 Long Island anchor Scott Feldman, can also be viewed anytime through the convenience of video on demand (VOD) through News 12 Interactive, located on iO TV channel 612, or by going to www.powertolearn.com and clicking on The Challenge. "Of the 16 Suffolk County high schools that competed in The Challenge this season, it has all come down to these two terrific academic teams," said Trent Anderson, Cablevision's Vice President of Education. "The pressure is really on now, since the winner of the Suffolk Finals goes on to play Nassau County and may ultimately compete in the Long Island Finals and beyond. We wish North Babylon High School and Sachem North High School the best of luck in their Suffolk County showdown." Representing North Babylon High School are Adam Abdelaziz (captain), Alexandria Abranko, Christian Cederstrom, Max Haarhaus and Daniel Rosenberg (alternate). The team's academic advisors are Erin Casserly and Timothy Pescatore. The winning team in each region will receive $2,500 and go on to compete for $10,000 in the Tri-State Championship. Each student participating in the championship match will receive $500.
