 Police identify victim in three-way car crash in Lindenhurst

Johnny Ramirez, 33, of 560 Scudder Ave., Copiague, has been identified as the driver of the Toyota Camry that was involved in a three-vehicle crash in Lindenhurst, Thurs., May 22. Police gave this account.

At approximately 1:18 p.m, North Monroe Avenue , Ramirez was operating a 1994 Toyota Camry was stopped at a red light on eastbound Sunrise Highway at North Monroe Avenue when his vehicle was struck from behind by a 2003 Ford Excursion, driven by Michael Manuella, 43, of Middle Island. The impact of the crash sent the Camry into a 1995 Buick LeSabre, driven by David Lewandowski, 32, of Hauppauge, which was stopped in front of the Camry. 
          Ramirez, whose identity was not know at the time, was airlifted by a Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Medical Center. He was listed in critical condition with head injuries and injuries to his left arm.

Lewandowski and Manuella were treated at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries. 
          All three vehicles were impounded for safety inspections. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
