Wade Kromhout of West Islip, at 42

Wade Kromhout
West Islip resident and loving father and husband Wade Robert Kromhout died March 24, 2008. He was 42 and had battled melanoma.

Born and raised in West Islip, he was a graduate of its schools. For many years, he was a deck hand who dredged beaches and canals for the Union of Operating Engineers.

An avid sports and Nascar enthusiast, he was dubbed the "Ultimate Warrior" by family members.

Mr. Kromhout leaves behind his wife of 12 and a-half-years, Jennifer; his children, Taylor, Courtney and his stepdaughter Amanda Blum; his parents Landon and Diane; his siblings, Wendy Happel, Landon and Kerry Vomero; his brothers and sisters -in-laws; his nieces and nephews, and many other family members and friends.

He reposed at the Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons Funeral Home in West Islip on March 27, 2008. A Celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial was said at Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church in West Islip, followed by interment in North Babylon Cemetery.
