Lindenhurst's William Rall Elementary School celebrates PARP

Lindenhurst's William Rall Elementary School students participated in Parents as Reading Partners (PARP) with a weeklong celebration of reading with a Western theme. The festivities started on Monday evening with square dancing in the gym. Special guests included The Town of Babylon Supervisor Steve Bellone and Mayor Thomas Brennan, who came and read to the children.

The week was filled with various activities to promote reading. Wednesday was "dress as your favorite storybook character" day and on Thursday morning there was schoolwide DEAR time. (Drop Everything And Read)

The celebration continued on Friday with the Rock and Rall Band, featuring Principal Robert Epstein on drums, school psychologist Joel Levine singing, and music teacher John McClendon on guitar, playing Western-themed songs. Teachers enjoyed line dancing and a special faculty tug-of-war. One child from each grade won a $25 gift certificate to Barnes and Noble, thanks to the PTA. Students also enjoyed wearing homemade cowboy hats
