Bellew students learn about germs

Proper hand washing techniques were discussed recently in classrooms at the Paul J.Bellew Elementary School in West Islip, courtesy of Good Samaritan Medical Center. Asking questions that included, Where can germs be found? and How do germs get into your body? hospital representatives Rita Austin, Lynne Smith and Kathy McCabe discussed why it's so important for youngsters to wash their hands well and often. Shown at right, is first grader Maximus Albanese as he views bacteria in a sealed case, brought by lab technicians. Also shown is Kathy McCabe speaking with students in Amanda Harvey's first grade classroom.
