Temple Sinai of Massapequa and Amityville to honor Rabbi Janise Poticha

In the face of temple closings in South Nassau and Suffolk, a small reform Synagogue (Temple Sinai) is celebrating the 10 years of service of its Rabbi, Janise Poticha. Rabbi Poticha, originally from Chicago, Illinois, has been residing in New York City for many years. She spent four years living in Israel and served in the Israeli Defense Forces. Rabbi Poticha volunteered and worked at Ground Zero in September and October of 2001. She commutes to Temple Sinai for services on Friday nights and religious school on Sundays, as well as Bar and Bat Mitzvah training and other life-cycle events.

The Rabbi is being honored with a "Garden Party" on Thurs., June 12 at 7 p.m. with a hearty vegetarian dinner in the sanctuary "Garden."
