Local athletes do well

A number of local residents were members of sports teams at the State University of New York College at Oneonta.

Savanah Keicher, of Lindenhurst, a sophomore was a member of the 2007-2008 women's tennis team which went 11-3 in dual matches. Keicher went 3-1 in singles for the Red Dragons. Oneonta placed fifth at the SUNYAC Championships.

West Babylon residents Mike Flood and Nick Murray, both juniors were members of the 2008 Oneonta men's lacrosse team. The Red Dragons finished 7-8 overall while also posting a 4-3 mark in the SUNYAC which qualified them for the conference tournament. Flood played in 15 games scoring two goals, adding two assists, winning 67 faceoffs and picking up 38 ground balls. Murray compiled a 16.49 GAA between the pipes and made 26 saves. He played a total of 95 minutes in goal seeing action in seven games this season.
