Joyce Duryea, Amityville resident
Longtime Amityville resident and area bank teller, Joyce C. Duryea died May 18, 2008 at New Island Hospital in Bethpage. She was 64. She was born January 19, 1944 in Kew Gar­dens and was raised in Farmingdale. She lived on County Line Road in Amityville for 42 years. She worked as a teller at Amityville's Chase Bank on Greene Avenue for about 20 years and was recognized and loved by many people who were her customers according to her husband of 42 years, George. "She was a kind, loving person with a great personality who just enjoyed life," said Barbara Balsam who worked with her for 14 years. "Almost every person that comes in mentions her. It's a great loss to the community that she's gone."

Mrs. Duryea enjoyed taking art classes in Linden­hurst and even had her paintings of landscapes and flowers displayed at the Lindenhurst Library.

In addition to her husband, she also leaves her children: Denise Ubert and her husband Richard and Jeffrey and his wife Andrea; her grandchil­dren:

Jacqueline, Christopher, Daniel, Brittany and Heather; her sister, Anita Swanson; her niece and nephew: Adam Swanson and his wife Kerry and Rebecca C. Swanson; and her great nephew: Noah Swanson.

The Rev. David W. Anglin, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Amityville, conducted a prayer service on May 21, 2008 in the Powell Funeral Home in Amityville. The Rev. Robert Modr, pas­tor

of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Smithtown officiated at the Burial Service in Long Island Na­tional Cemetery in Pinelawn on May 22, 2008.
