Secret Service visits Manetuck Elementary in West Islip

The United States Secret Service paid a very rare visit to West Islip recently, visiting the Manetuck Elementary School. Arranged by a student's mom with a connection to the federal service, the Secret Service, the Iron Shields, and Suffolk County Police arrived in full regalia to the cheers of students, who were dressed in red, white and blue and waving flags in tribute to those who keep the country and its communities safe.

Tours and demonstrations were provided by the agents and officers as the youngsters explored the presidential armored limo, an RV Command Post, and motorcycles. Those with parental consent forms had their photographs and fingerprints were given free safety kits, and received certificates.

Shown in the photo, Manetuck Elementary School Principal Mary Anderson is flanked by two U.S. Secret Service agents.
