      On Sun., Sept. 21, 2 to 4 p.m., the Babylon Village Arts Council will present poets Steven Schmidt and Philip Postiglione at the Babylon Public Library, 24 S. Carll Ave., Babylon Village. Local firemen support bike ride
      The Wounded Warriors Projects Soldier Bike Ride took place on Fri., July 25. At 9 a.m. crowds gathered at the Babylon Town Hall for the kick-off ceremony. At 10 a.m. the cyclists started on the 24-mile bike ride to Cedar Beach where they enjoyed a barbecue.

Astoria Federal sponsors Babylon Bay Fest
      Astoria Federal Savings Bank donated $1,500 to the Babylon Village Arts Council to co-sponsor the Babylon Bay Fest.       The 35th annual Country Fair, sponsored by the Babylon Beautification Society, will be held this Sun., Sept. 7, kicks off at noon at the Gazebo at Argyle Park in Babylon Village, the site of continuous entertainment until 5 p.m.

      On May 28, the Historical Society of Islip Hamlet hosted a program by E.J. Wagner, historian and storyteller, entitled Dangerous Waters about piracy and dangers on the high seas. Chanties and shore songs were sung by her husband W.R. Wagners.

Microchip Clinic for pets offered Sept. 13
      On Sat. Sept. 13, 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. the Mayor's Alliance for NYC Animals will be providing a low cost microchip clinic during the Last Hope Animal Rescue Dog Walk and Family Fun Day at Wantagh Park near the dog run. Microchips help lost pets return home.
