BVAC presents poetry program Sept. 21st

On Sun., Sept. 21, 2 to 4 p.m., the Babylon Village Arts Council will present poets Steven Schmidt and Philip Postiglione at the Babylon Public Library, 24 S. Carll Ave., Babylon Village. This presentation will be free and open to the public. Scheduled readings will be followed by an open mike.

Schmidt hosts the Northport Arts Coalition's monthly Poets in Port readings, and organized the News of Flames instant book party in April 2008. His work has been published in Soundings, Zephyr, Hookah and Xanadu. He is a software developer, has a BS in mathematics from the University of Waterloo (Ontario) and began writing poetry in 1977.

Postiglione is currently finishing a master's degree in creative writing at Warnborough College. He counts Dylan Thomas, Pablo Neruda, Pablo Neruda and Sylvia Plath as some of his numerous influences.
