GSHMC names new Regional Vice President
Al Palma was recently named regional vice president of laboratory services for Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown and St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson.
Palma is responsible for operational integration of the laboratories through standardization and shared services, as well as business development for each of the facilities by extending laboratory outpatient services into their respective communities. Previously Palma, served as Administrative Director of Laboratory Services at Good Samari- tan, a post he held for the past 16 years.
Good Samaritan's outpatient laboratory offers a level of convenience and expertise and the laboratory performs more than three million tests annually. The laboratory at Good Samaritan is Joint Commission accredited, licensed and approved by the New York State Department of Health. Laboratory testing is performed by a team of experts, which includes pathologists, New York State licensed clinical laboratory technologists and technicians and ancillary staff working in the various specialized sections of the laboratory. Palma joined Good Samaritan in October 1991. He resides in Mastic Beach with his wife, Janet, and their children, Alfred, Jr. and Erica Lee. Palma has a bachelor's degree in medical technology and a master's in heath sciences-
