Ascension Lutheran Church to hold Rally Day Ascension Lutheran Church, 33 Bay Shore Rd., Deer Park, will hold its Rally Day, Sun., Sept. 7, kicking off the Sunday School season for youngsters who will be three years old by Dec. 1 through sixth grade. Parents interested in registering their children to attend either the 9 a.m. or 10:45 a.m. session should arrive 20 minutes early to complete the process. While the younger ones are at Sunday school, the older children and adults will be at worship in Ascension's recently renovated sanctuary. Rally day starts at noon with a picnic lunch on the back lawn, featuring hot dogs, hamburgers, homemade salads, dessert and coffee. There will be music games and an inflatable for the children to enjoy as well as freshly-made cotton candy and popcorn for all.
