Leg. D'Amaro recognizes DP scholarship winner
Deer Park resident Christine Nitti was recently awarded a grant for up to $5,000 per year to pay for tuition, fees, books and supplies at Suffolk County Community College (SCCC) as one of the inaugural recipients of the Get There from Here" Scholarship. Nitti was among the 65 outstanding students who were selected to receive the scholarships which can be renewed for up to five semesters of study.
The scholarships were made possible
by an anonymous $5 million donation, the largest gift in school history. Suffolk Legislator Lou D'Amaro (D-North Babylon) joined school administrators and local dignitaries at a private ceremony to congratulate all of the winners and thank SCCC President Dr. Shirley Robinson Pippins and the board members of the Suffolk Community College Foundation for "caring so much about the Suffolk community and giving their time to guarantee that gifted students like Christine Nitti have the opportunity to receive a college education."
