Marie Lesler, lived in North Babylon for almost 70 years

Former North Babylon resident Marie Lesler died on July 31, 2008 in Ephrata, Pennsylvania. She was 93, and had lived on Liberty Avenue for 69 years.

A loving homemaker and mother, she dedicated her life to her family and touched many that she met along the way, said her daughter Nancy Straub.

"My mom was just a warm, sweet person who was loved by everyone," she said.

Born in the Bronx, she moved to North Babylon in 1936 and had spent most of her life there. She was involved in the Ladies Auxiliary of the North Babylon Fire Department, a member of the Babylon Homemaker's Club and St. Ann's Guild at Christ Episcopal Church in Babylon.

In 2005, she moved to Pennsylvania to live closer to her family.

In addition to her daughter Nancy, and her husband Bob of Ephrata, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Lesler also leaves behind her sons: William and his wife Linda of Longs, South Carolina, and Peter and his wife Josie of Aurora, Ohio. Her grandchildren: William, Kevin, David and Catherine Straub also survive her. She was predeceased in 1986 by her husband Kermit, who was a charter member of the North Babylon Fire Department.

Mrs. Lesler reposed at the Claude R. Boyd-Spencer Funeral Home in Babylon Village. A Religious Service was officiated by the Rev. Father Nigel Jay Bousfield, Priest-in-Charge of Christ Episcopal Church, Babylon Village Aug. 4, 2008 at the Funeral Home. Interment followed at North Babylon Cemetery.
